Meet the Animals
From donkeys and horses to sheep, cows, and clucking chickens, our farm is home to a friendly bunch of animals. Whether you’re strolling past the paddocks or helping to feed the lambs, there’s joy in getting close to the creatures that call Raptor Rise home. It’s a special experience for city-dwellers and little ones alike.
Mountain Biking Trails
Explore some of the Western Cape’s most scenic mountain biking trails right here in Tulbagh. Together with the local community, we’ve created a signposted 25km loop through the valley, with upgraded single tracks and rebuilt bridges for a smoother ride. Trail Running & Hiking
Enjoy open trails for walking, running or hiking right from your doorstep. The wide paths and peaceful surroundings make for the perfect morning jog or a leisurely afternoon wander.
Farm Walks
Take it slow with a stroll around the property. Walk among the paddocks, breathe in the mountain air, and let the stillness of the valley ease you into true relaxation. Guests are also welcome to explore the neighbouring farm, Digger Home—owned by the same family—where a network of walking and running trails winds through the landscape. For those keen to explore even further, our other neighbour, Oude Compagnies Post, offers access to the scenic Buchu Trail. This must be arranged in advance directly with them.
Fishing
Guests at Raptor Rise are welcome to enjoy catch-and-release fishing at the neighbouring farm, Diggers Home. The tranquil dams there are home to a variety of fish and offer a peaceful setting for a few quiet hours by the water. Please remember to bring your own fishing gear, and note that all fish must be returned to the dam after catching.
Feed the Animals
Depending on the season, you may have the chance to help with farm chores — like bottle-feeding lambs or scattering grain for the chickens. It’s a hands-on way to experience daily life on the farm.
Rest & Relax
After a morning of exploring, cool off in our swimming pool or simply stretch out in the sun with a good book. Raptor Rise is all about balance — rest when you need it, adventure when you want it.
